Journal Entry
I spent two days interacting with Claude concerning two story fragments that were similar enough that I thought they might be combined but I wasn't sure how. You can read about it here. The interaction was a great way to brainstorm and have my ideas reflected back to me.
The general outline of the story is done. I'm basically a pantser so knowing where I am going is different. I will let the story take me where it takes me.
Right now a character we just called the researcher has caught my attention. I've been writing a scene with her which chronologically comes near the end of the book but I think it's important to write this chapter. It is one perspective on the dead woman who connected these two fragments. It is a perspective Ronnie, one of my main recurring characters, doesn't share. She never knew the dead woman but Ronnie still has opinions about her and about the researcher as well.
Claude called this piece “Where to go from here” or words to that effect. I think one of the ways to go is to continue writing this scene. It will shape what Tamara, the researcher's boss, thinks about her and that is another scene I can write, again at the end of the narrative.
Maybe if I write the end I will stay focused on getting there! I've written books chronologically, but never with scenes that were not connected.
